Vice Governor Rano Karno Reaffirms Support at Dharma Santi Nyepi

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Jakarta Provincial Government supports religious harmony through the Dharma Santi Nyepi celebration held at Jakarta City Hall on Sunday, April 12, 2026. The event is part of the Saka New Year 1948/2026 series, carrying the theme “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam: Jakarta Harmony, Advanced Indonesia.”

Deputy Governor of Jakarta, Rano Karno, attended the celebration along with Hindu communities and various institutions, including civil servants within the Jakarta Provincial Government. The event reflected strong collaboration among stakeholders in maintaining social harmony in the capital.

He expressed appreciation for the role of Hindu communities in maintaining interfaith harmony in Jakarta. He emphasized that Dharma Santi is not merely a religious ceremony, but also a means to strengthen unity and togetherness.

“The Jakarta Provincial Government welcomes the implementation of Dharma Santi as an effort to strengthen unity and cohesion. Hindu communities have shown real contributions in maintaining diversity and tolerance in Jakarta,” he said.

He also reaffirmed the local government’s commitment to supporting religious activities for all communities as part of inclusive social development. According to him, community-based cultural activities should continue so that future Nyepi celebrations can be even better.

“We agree with the Governor that community-based cultural activities must continue, so future Nyepi celebrations can be improved,” he said.

In addition, Rano Karno extended his greetings to Hindu communities celebrating Dharma Santi Nyepi 2026. He also appreciated the role of all religious groups in maintaining harmony, reflecting Jakarta’s diversity and inclusiveness.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Dharma Santi Committee, I Dewa Gede Soni Aryawan, stated that the event marked the closing of the Nyepi series and served as a momentum for social reconciliation. He also expressed gratitude that, for the first time, Dharma Santi was held at Jakarta City Hall.

“This activity serves as a momentum for social reconciliation. We are also grateful that for the first time Dharma Santi can be held at Jakarta City Hall,” he said.

He added that the theme reflects universal brotherhood values relevant to Jakarta’s diverse society. Through this event, it is expected that tolerance and social solidarity will be further strengthened.

The event was also attended by several Jakarta Provincial Government officials and Hindu community leaders, including the Regional Secretary and leaders of Hindu organizations. Their presence reflects a shared commitment to maintaining harmony in Jakarta.
