RRI.CO.ID, Yogyakarta - Indonesia's Special Region of Yogyakarta highlighted culture-led urban development to support Golden Indonesia 2045 in Yogyakarta on Tuesday, July 14, 2026. The approach promotes balanced growth by preserving local identity while improving people's quality of life.

The vision was shared during a meeting between Governor Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X and Vice Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas, Fahri Hamzah. Both discussed strategies supporting Indonesia Emas 2045 through sustainable urban planning.

The discussion covered housing, riverfront development, coastal management, and future urban expansion. Participants emphasized that every region requires development based on its own social and environmental characteristics.

Governor Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X said future planning still requires further technical studies. He stressed every proposal should match local conditions before implementation.

"At this stage, these are still ideas. There will be further discussions on how to implement them. Once we examine the locations and actual conditions, various design and development possibilities will naturally emerge," he said.

Fahri Hamzah praised Yogyakarta's development experience. He described the province as an important reference for future urban planning across Indonesia.

"Yogyakarta is one of Indonesia's historic and cultural heritage cities. Receiving insights from Sri Sultan on urban planning based on his experience has been a very valuable discussion. Yogyakarta's experience is rich and can inspire the future development of cities across Indonesia," he said.
