KBRN, Jakarta: Indonesian Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky highlighted the significant growth of the creative economy sector, driven largely by a dynamic and creative young generation. According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), key indicators such as the creative economy’s contribution to GDP, labor absorption, and investment value show notable progress.

To further advance the development of the creative economy in Indonesia, several strategies are needed, including aligning the Indonesian Standard Business Field Classification (KBLI) for the creative economy. Improving the completeness of macro data on key performance indicators (KPI), optimizing BPS data, and establishing special work units are also essential.

This was shared by Riefky during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BPS, aimed at policy formulation and data-driven decision-making, in Jakarta, Thursday (13/3/2025).

"The creative economy has recorded significant growth, especially from the younger generation. Strategies such as the alignment of the KBLI for the Creative Economy, improving macro data on key performance indicators, optimizing BPS data, and establishing special work units will enhance the quality of data and information on the creative economy,” he said.

With the implementation of these strategies, the Ministry of Creative Economy and BPS aim to strengthen their collaboration in updating creative economy data.

This effort is expected to provide the younger generation with quality employment opportunities and contribute significantly to the growth of the creative economy GDP. The MoU signed between the Ministry of Creative Economy and BPS is expected to be a turning point in advancing the country’s creative economy sector, focusing on policy formulation and data-driven decision-making.

“The collaboration between Kemenekraf and BPS is an excellent starting point for the development of the creative economy in Indonesia,” said Minister Riefky. “This MoU encompasses data provision, methodology development, human resource development, and support for census and survey activities,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) expressed strong commitment to supporting the development of the creative economy through data strengthening. BPS is dedicated to working with the Ministry of Creative Economy to provide accurate, up-to-date data on creative economy GDP, labor, and exports.

BPS will also utilize administrative and registration data from the Ministry of Creative Economy to enhance statistical data and support the sector’s growth. “The goal of this collaboration is to increase the contribution of the creative economy to national revenue and to support the vision of Golden Indonesia 2045," said Head of BPS.

Ultimately, this collaboration will help create jobs for the younger generation and improve their quality of life.
