RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) has launched a special Eid al-Adha sacrificial program aimed at helping Palestinians, offering Indonesians an opportunity to perform qurban while supporting communities affected by the ongoing humanitarian crisis.

The program, titled Kurban Berkah untuk Palestina (Blessed Qurban for Palestine), provides several options for sacrificial animals, including Regular Doka sheep weighing around 35 kilograms priced at IDR 5.9 million, Premium Doka sheep weighing about 45 kilograms for IDR 9 million, and Al Quds cows weighing approximately 450 kilograms priced at IDR 59 million.

BAZNAS also offers one-seventh portions of canned beef weighing around 20 kilograms for IDR 5.9 million.

BAZNAS Chairman Sodik Mudjahid said the initiative reflects the agency’s efforts to expand the benefits of qurban beyond Indonesia by reaching people in conflict-hit regions such as Palestine.

“BAZNAS wants to provide a solution so people can fulfill their qurban worship while also helping our brothers and sisters in Palestine,” Sodik said in a written statement in Jakarta on Monday, May 18, 2026, as quoted on BAZNAS official website.

He said Eid al-Adha serves as an important moment to strengthen humanitarian solidarity, especially for Palestinians who continue to face difficult conditions.

Sodik emphasized that the procurement and distribution process for the sacrificial animals is managed professionally and in accordance with Islamic principles, while also ensuring the quality and eligibility of the animals.

He added that canned meat packaging offers a practical solution to preserve the meat longer and expand its distribution to more beneficiaries.

BAZNAS also encouraged Indonesians to participate in the program through the organization’s digital platforms, allowing donations to be made easily through mobile devices.

“In the palm of their hands, people can now conveniently perform qurban for Palestine through the various channels provided by BAZNAS. It is not only practical, but also safe and trustworthy because it is managed professionally and in accordance with sharia principles,” he added.

The agency described the program as both a religious and humanitarian effort to help ease the burden faced by Palestinians during Eid al-Adha.

Qurban is an Islamic practice of slaughtering livestock (such as goats, sheep, cows, or camels) during Eid al-Adha as an act of devotion and remembrance of Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God. The meat is then distributed to family, neighbors, and especially to those in need. This year's Eid al-Adha falls on May 27. ***
