RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur reinforced community solidarity during Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijri by supporting Muhammadiyah’s sacrifice program in Malaysia, highlighting the importance of religious outreach and shared compassion across borders.
On Wednesday, Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia Dato’ Mohammad Iman Hascarya Kusumo joined the ritual slaughter organized by the Muhammadiyah Special Branch (PCIM) Malaysia in Gombak, Selangor.
The event, carried out in collaboration with the Aisyiyah Special Branch (PCIA) Malaysia, saw the distribution of meat from at least 12 cows and 10 goats, including one cow and one goat from Ambassador Iman himself.
“Today we are performing the sacrifice. The Embassy is working together with Muhammadiyah in Malaysia. Alhamdulillah, everything went smoothly and safely,” Ambassador Iman said, as quoted by Antara.
He also expressed gratitude to Muhammadiyah and the organizing committee for their dedication.
Deputy Ambassador Danang Waskito praised Muhammadiyah’s contributions to progressive Islamic outreach in Malaysia, noting that the annual sacrifice is not only a tradition but also a reminder of gratitude and faith.
“This sacrifice is a routine annual activity, but more importantly, it reflects our thankfulness for God’s blessings and strengthens our devotion,” he said.
PCIM Malaysia Chairman Fauzi Fatkhur emphasized that this year’s observance was particularly meaningful thanks to the Embassy’s strong backing. He reminded participants that Eid al-Adha is not merely about animal sacrifice, but a reflection of Prophet Ibrahim and Prophet Ismail’s devotion and selflessness.
The distributed meat was allocated to local communities, Rohingya refugees, indigenous groups in Gombak, and Indonesian migrant workers in Malaysia through Muhammadiyah’s branches.
Quoting Antara, dditional contributions of cows and goats were made during the event. The ceremony was attended by Embassy staff and teachers from the Indonesian School in Kuala Lumpur, many of whom are members of PCIM Malaysia.
This collaboration underscores the Embassy’s commitment to supporting community-based initiatives, strengthening ties among Indonesians abroad, and fostering goodwill with local communities during one of Islam’s most significant observances. ***
