RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The celebration of Eid al-Adha at Wisma Indonesia in Paris, France, carried a special resonance this year, as Indonesian citizens and diaspora gathered not only for prayer but also to share the rare experience of worshipping alongside their Head of State.

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto’s presence on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at the site turned the occasion into a moment of pride and unity for Indonesians living abroad.

Arriving at Wisma Indonesia around 8:40 a.m. local time, President Prabowo joined the congregation at the front row, leading the takbir before performing the Eid prayer.

The service was guided by imam and khatib Fakhruddin Arrozi, a lecturer at Lamongan Muhammadiyah University and graduate of the International Islamic University Islamabad.

In his sermon, Fakhruddin emphasized the spiritual and humanitarian meaning of Eid al-Adha, reminding worshippers that sacrifice is not merely ritual but a call to humility, generosity, and solidarity, especially vital for Muslims living as diaspora.

“We are not commanded to sacrifice our children as Prophet Ibrahim did, but to sacrifice our ego in obedience to Allah,” Fakhruddin told the congregation.

After the prayer, President Prabowo greeted and exchanged warm words with Indonesian citizens and diaspora, creating an atmosphere of closeness and camaraderie. The gathering became a bridge of togetherness, reinforcing bonds between the nation’s leader and Indonesians abroad.

For many, the occasion was deeply personal. Four Indonesian students from Brawijaya University--Zeahita, Yuri, Kezia, and Sindhu--described the experience as unforgettable.

“It’s such an honor,” said Zeahita, noting how their academic journey in France coincided with the chance to meet the President.

Kezia added that she and her friends had initially traveled to Lyon for a Model United Nations conference but decided to stop in Paris for Eid prayers, never expecting to encounter the Head of State.

The day’s events underscored how Eid al-Adha, even far from home, remains a powerful reminder of faith, family, and national unity. For Indonesians in France, sharing the sacred moment with their President transformed the holiday into a celebration of identity and pride in the heart of Europe. (Diva Rifdah)
