KBRN, Jakarta: Indonesia has urged all parties to prioritize a peaceful resolution following large-scale attacks by the United States on Venezuela and claims that Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has been captured during the operation.

“Indonesia also calls on all relevant parties to promote a peaceful settlement through de-escalation measures and dialogue, while continuing to prioritize the protection of civilians,” the Indonesian government said in a statement posted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) on social media platform X, as reported on Saturday.

Through the Indonesian Embassy in Caracas, the government continues to closely monitor developments in Venezuela. The Indonesian government is also actively ensuring the safety of all Indonesian nationals in the country.

“The Government of Indonesia, through the Indonesian Embassy in Caracas, continues to closely monitor the situation in Venezuela. Together with all Indonesian missions in the region, the embassy is actively ensuring the condition and safety of all Indonesian citizens in Venezuela,” MoFA wrote.

“At present, all Indonesian nationals in Venezuela are reported to be safe,” the statement continued.

The Indonesian government has also urged Indonesian nationals to remain calm, stay vigilant, and maintain communication with the Indonesian Embassy in Caracas. Indonesia further emphasized the importance of respect for international law and the principles enshrined in the United Nations Charter.

The Venezuelan public was rocked by a series of powerful explosions in several parts of the country early Saturday amid escalating tensions with the United States, according to local media reports. Videos circulating on social media showed thick smoke in several areas of the capital Caracas, accompanied by the sound of air raid sirens.

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil, in a post on Telegram, stated that the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela rejects and condemns what he described as an overt act of military aggression by the United States against Venezuelan territory and its people.
