RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia Abdalfatah Alsattari has praised the organization of Halal Expo Indonesia (HEI) 2026 in Jakarta, describing the exhibition as an important platform for participating countries to showcase their culture, cuisine, and flagship products.

“This is the first time I have attended this event because I only arrived in Indonesia about five months ago. I am happy to see this wonderful event because every country is presenting its culture, food, clothing, and that is very important,” Alsattari said after the opening of HEI 2026 at Senayan Indoor Tennis Stadium in Jakarta on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.

Although Palestine is not a member of the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation, Alsattari said the Palestinian Embassy had the opportunity to use the event to introduce Palestinian cultural identity to the public.

“For us at the Palestinian Embassy, we are also showcasing our traditional clothing and traditional food,” he said.

Despite the ongoing difficult situation in Gaza and the West Bank, Alsattari stressed that the Palestinian people must continue building ties with the international community. He said cooperation and engagement through events such as HEI remain important for strengthening bilateral relations, including with Indonesia.

“Our situation in Gaza and the West Bank is indeed very difficult. However, that does not mean life should stop for us. We must continue working hard wherever we are and keep strengthening relations between Indonesia and Palestine,” the ambassador said.

Alsattari also expressed appreciation to the Indonesian president, government, and people for their continued support for Palestine. According to him, Indonesia’s solidarity with the Palestinian struggle has been widely felt by the Palestinian people.

He said Palestinians across the country recognize Indonesia’s consistent support for Palestine on various occasions. Therefore, he emphasized that his gratitude to Indonesia would continue to be expressed.

“All our people know that Indonesia always stands with Palestine, supports Palestine, and shows tremendous solidarity with Palestine. I have said it before, and I will continue to say it again,” he stressed.

Alsattari concluded by saying that Indonesia’s support carries great significance for the Palestinian people. He noted that the close relationship between the two countries has become an important part of Palestine’s journey and struggle.

HEI 2026 carries the theme “Strengthening D-8 Halal Economy Through International Collaboration” and serves as a key platform for businesses, industry players, investors, and policymakers to strengthen the D-8 halal value chain while expanding access to global markets.

The expo, running from July 8-12, features participation from nine countries: Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Egypt, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Türkiye. (Diffa Sephiawardhani)
