RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) President Director Iman Rachman announced his resignation on Friday, January 30, 2026, citing responsibility for recent market turbulence following a sharp decline in the benchmark Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG).
Speaking at the IDX press room, Iman said he had made the decision after closely monitoring market conditions over the past two days, during which the IHSG plunged following a policy announcement by Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI), although trading showed signs of recovery on Friday morning.
“Today, after observing market developments over the past two days, even though conditions have improved this morning, I want to announce that I am stepping down as president director of the Indonesia Stock Exchange,” he said.
Iman said his resignation was an expression of accountability for the market disruption that occurred during his tenure as the exchange’s top executive.
As president director, he oversaw market operations and maintained investor confidence, roles that kept the position at the center of market stability during periods of volatility.
“Yesterday, I stated my resignation as president director of the Indonesia Stock Exchange. I believe this decision is the best for the capital market,” he said, adding that he hoped the move would help restore confidence and support a sustained recovery in the stock index.
Iman did not comment on who would succeed him, saying only that the process would follow existing regulations and the exchange’s articles of association.
“All administrative procedures will be carried out in accordance with our articles of association. An interim acting president director will be appointed until a definitive replacement is named,” he said, thanking members of the media before concluding his statement.
Iman was appointed president director of the Indonesia Stock Exchange on June 29, 2022, following his selection at the annual general meeting of shareholders.
He succeeded Inarno Djajadi and was set to lead the bourse through the 2022–2026 period, overseeing strategic efforts to expand market participation and strengthen Indonesia’s capital markets.
Before leading the stock exchange, Iman built a long career across finance and state-owned enterprises.
He began his career in capital markets as a manager at PT Danareksa Sekuritas and later served as director of investment banking at PT Mandiri Sekuritas.
Iman held leadership roles in finance and strategy at major Indonesian companies, including serving as finance director at state-owned port operators PT Pelabuhan Indonesia II and III, and as director of strategy, portfolio, and business development at state-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina, immediately prior to joining the IDX.
Iman holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Padjadjaran University and an MBA in finance from Leeds University Business School. (Gusti Panji/Lasti Martina)
