RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian badminton squad wasted no time adjusting to English conditions, launching straight into training sessions upon arrival as they gear up for the prestigious All England Open Badminton Championships 2026, set for March 3–8 at Utilita Arena Birmingham.

The team is based at the National Badminton Centre in Milton Keynes, a facility that doubles as the training hub for England’s national squad. Its proximity to Birmingham and comprehensive amenities made it the preferred choice for Indonesia’s preparations.

“We chose this location because it’s close to Birmingham and the facilities are complete,” team manager Shendy Puspa Irawati said in a statement from the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI), as quoted by Antara.

On Thursday morning, February 26, 2026, players including rising star Alwi Farhan held their first practice session, focusing on recovery after the long journey and adapting to the local climate and court atmosphere.

Shendy highlighted that the center offers hotel-standard lodging, a fitness room, 10 training courts, and a restaurant -- all within 100 meters of each other. “It feels similar to Pelatnas Cipayung, with everything in one area,” she noted.

Over the next three days, Indonesia will share the venue with England’s squad -- featuring men’s doubles pair Ben Lane/Sean Vendy -- and the United States team. Joint practice sessions are scheduled, combining match play with drills and tactical routines tailored to each discipline.

For younger players like Farhan, the acclimatization program is seen as crucial before stepping into the intensity of a Super 1000 tournament. Coaches are emphasizing adaptation to shuttlecock flight, arena wind conditions, and match rhythm to ensure readiness both physically and mentally.
