RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s freshly formed men’s doubles duo Muhammad Rian Ardianto/Daniel Edgar Marvino made a winning start to their partnership, advancing to the second round of the Taipei Open 2026.

They advanced to the next round after defeating Thailand’s Chaloempon Charoenkitamorn/Worrapol Thongsa-Nga 21–19, 21–18 at the Taipei Arena on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.

The match marked their debut as a pair, having only been partnered by the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) in June. Rian admitted that the early stages required adjustment but praised the communication between them.

“It’s a good start with Edgar. At first, we needed time to adapt, but we kept communicating to find solutions, and thankfully it went smoothly,” he said, as quoted by Antara.

Rian acknowledged the challenge posed by the Thai duo, noting their strong record against fellow Indonesians Devin/Fathir. “Thailand is never an easy opponent. They’ve beaten our teammates twice in three-game matches,” he said, adding that he is not setting specific targets for this tournament as he continues to adapt with his new partner.

Daniel, meanwhile, expressed excitement at being paired with the experienced Rian. “I feel very enthusiastic to partner with Rian. I prepared myself mentally so I could play calmly, and we worked on communication during training to make the adaptation process smoother,” he said.

Their victory signals a promising start for Indonesia’s new doubles partnership, with both players focusing on building chemistry and consistency rather than immediate results.

The Taipei Open provides an important testing ground for the duo as they look to establish themselves among Indonesia’s competitive men’s doubles lineup. ***
