RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Bandung-based shoe manufacturer CV Fortuna Shoes has expanded into Japan, the United Kingdom (UK), South Korea, and Germany, leveraging preferential tariff arrangements to strengthen its products' competitiveness in partner countries.
Deputy Minister of Trade, Dyah Roro Esti Widya Putri, praised the quality of Fortuna Shoes’ products.
“The Ministry is optimizing the role of trade representatives--including Trade Attachés and Indonesian Trade Promotion Centers (ITPCs)--by facilitating business matching and business pitching so local businesses can connect directly with potential buyers,” Roro said in Bandung on Monday, September 14, 2026.
Fortuna Shoes will join the West Java Provincial Administration’s booth at Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2026, where the company can utilize trade representatives to conduct direct business matching at the exhibition venue.
TEI 2025 recorded 8,045 buyers from various countries, underscoring TEI’s strategic role as Indonesia’s largest trade fair in boosting national exports.
Established in Bandung in 1969, CV Fortuna Shoes upholds the principles of tradition, craftsmanship, and quality. The company manufactures footwear and footwear components classified under Harmonized System (HS) codes 6403 and 6406.
Fortuna Shoes’ production capacity reaches 50,000 pairs per year. Japan is its primary export destination, followed by the UK, South Korea, and Germany.
The company benefits from preferential tariff schemes under the Indonesia–Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (IJEPA), the ASEAN–Korea Free Trade Area, and the European Union’s Generalized System of Preferences, all of which support product competitiveness.
Fortuna Shoes has been registered in the electronic Certificate of Origin (e‑SKA) system since January 9, 2012, and has issued Certificates of Origin (SKA) since 2000.
Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan said growth in the manufacturing industry contributes to job creation and investment. He added that the SKA provides added value for Bandung by clearly identifying the origin of Fortuna Shoes’ products.
“With the SKA, wherever they are sold, buyers will know that Fortuna shoes come from Bandung. This certainly brings added value to Bandung,” Farhan said.
Fortuna Shoes markets the Jalan Sriwijaya brand in Japan through GMT Inc., which serves as the brand owner, importer, and operator of Jalan Sriwijaya stores.
Jalan Sriwijaya operates seven stores across several Japanese cities and has built a strong brand image and market share, particularly among upper‑middle‑class consumers.
Roro previously visited the Jalan Sriwijaya store in Nihonbashi, Tokyo, in June 2025, where she met with the owner of GMT Inc. and purchased a pair of Jalan Sriwijaya shoes.
She noted that Fortuna Shoes’ contribution extends beyond exports and trade transactions, with women making up approximately 60 percent of the company’s workforce. (Gusti Panji)
