Indonesia Records Success at ITB Berlin 2026

RRI.CO.ID, Berlin — Indonesia's participation, through the Ministry of Tourism at ITB Berlin 2026, which took place from March 3-5, 2026, achieved positive results and strengthened Indonesia's position as a leading global tourism destination. The #GoBeyondOrdinary campaign reflects the Ministry of Tourism's flagship program, Quality Tourism.

This theme emphasizes the creation of added value through the principles of inclusivity, sustainability, and quality tourism experiences. According to a press release received by RRI Voice of Indonesia on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, the focal points of ITB Berlin 2026 were Indonesian textile motifs and Tasikmalaya's beautiful umbrellas, which were part of the pavilion's decoration, as well as gastronomy and wellness, which were reflected in the pavilion's activation zone.

Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri, accompanied by Abdul Kadir Jailani, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to the Federal Republic of Germany, opened the Indonesian Pavilion, which occupies an area of 441 square meters in Hall 26A No. 111, and expressed her appreciation for the collaborative spirit of all participants.

The Opening Ceremony of the Indonesian Pavilion at ITB Berlin 2026 featured a traditional Tor Tor Tandok dance performance from North Sumatra, supported by the Jakarta provincial government. The dance served as a symbol of welcome and a representation of Indonesia's rich culture to visitors and international tourism industry players attending Messe Berlin.

This year's Indonesian Pavilion successfully attracted the interest of global industry players, creating significant potential for transactions and tourist movement. Ninety-three tourism industry players from 11 provinces in Indonesia participated.

Participants came from various industry sectors, including accommodation providers, Destination Management Companies (DMCs), travel agents or tour operators, tourist villages, restaurants, and other tourism service providers. Buyers meeting at the Indonesian pavilion primarily came from Europe (88.38%), Asia (10.29%), the Americas (2.73%), Australia (1.17%), Africa (0.78%), and the Middle East (0.65%).

The Ministry of Tourism noted that Indonesia's participation in ITB Berlin 2026 generated potential transactions of 479,434 potential tourists, equivalent to IDR 14.91 trillion in potential foreign exchange earnings. This achievement reflects the high international market interest in Indonesian tourism products and optimism regarding the tourism sector's contribution to driving national economic growth.

The total transaction volume from the ITB Berlin 2026 exhibition and the series of pre-event sales missions reached 542,953 potential tourists, and the total potential foreign exchange generated reached IDR 16.89 trillion, a 24.2% increase compared to the IDR 13.6 trillion achieved in 2025. Meanwhile, post-event sales mission activities are still being carried out in Warsaw, Poland; Budapest, Hungary; Zagreb, Croatia; and Milan, Italy by the Association of Indonesian Travel Agencies (ASITA) in collaboration with the Indonesian Embassies in each city from March 9 to 16, 2026.
