RRI.CO.ID, Bali - The Ministry of Tourism is preparing strategic mitigation measures to anticipate the impact of the conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran on the tourism sector, particularly on the flow of foreign tourists to Indonesia.

Vice Minister of Tourism, Ni Luh Puspa, stated on Thursday, March 5, 2026 that the government continues to monitor developments in the situation, particularly regarding flight connectivity to and from the Middle East.

Despite disruptions to several flight routes, the impact on flight operations at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali was relatively minor.

The number of flights decreased by only around 0.5 percent. According to the Vice Minister of Tourism, this situation is likely due to some tourists adjusting their flights through alternative hubs in Asia, such as Malaysia and Singapore.

Data on international tourist arrivals in 2025 also shows that the five largest contributors of tourists to Indonesia will be from the Asia and Pacific region: Malaysia, Australia, Singapore, China, and Timor Leste.

Based on these conditions, the Ministry of Tourism will further strengthen its promotional and market penetration strategies in the Asia and Pacific region as a mitigation measure against the potential impact of conflict in the Middle East.

The Ministry of Tourism also continues to coordinate with various stakeholders, including the world tourism organization UN Tourism, to monitor developments in the global situation and its impact on international tourist mobility.

On this occasion, Deputy Minister of Tourism Ni Luh Puspa was accompanied by Assistant Deputy for Tourism Marketing Strategy and Communications at the Ministry of Tourism, Firnandi Gufron.
