RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta: The Indonesian tourism industry won 32 awards in 25 categories from international organizations and institutions during January 2026. National tourism is off to a good start this year despite growing competition from around the world.

Indonesia's excellence, competitiveness, and dedication to creating environmentally sustainable tourism destinations based on cultural richness are all reflected in the numerous international accolades.

These accomplishments made Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana very proud. She concluded that the reason for this international recognition is the consistency and collaboration of all stakeholders in upholding service standards, enhancing destination governance, and protecting the environment and cultural values.

"Thank you for the accolades bestowed upon Indonesia's tourist industry. This accomplishment is both a source of pride for all of us and a challenge to keep enhancing the quality of tourism services and making sure that the whole community benefits from them," she said in a statement in Jakarta on Monday, January 19, 2026, as quoted by ministry official website.

Some of the organizations which gave awards were TripAdvisor, Rough Guides, US News, Forbes, Travel and Tour World, Holiday, Tatler Travel, Condé Nast Traveler, The Times UK, Travel + Leisure India, BBC, Luxury Lifestyle Magazine, Tripzilia, Urban List, eDreams Odigeo, Lifestyle Asia, Tatler Asia, Luxury Escapes, The Rume, VMAN Southeast Asia, Afar Media, Beautiful Hotels, Net-a-Porter, The Bali Sun, and The Scoop.

For example, Forbes Travel ranked Indonesia as the World's 10 Hidden Beauty in 2026. Some of the top locations that won the prize included Bali, Sumba, Labuan Bajo, and Raja Ampat.

Bali Island received one of the most esteemed accolades when it was formally designated the number one Best Destination in the World 2026 and Best in Asia in TripAdvisor's Travelers' Choice Awards 2026, under the Top Destinations in the World and in Asia categories.

These awards will improve the image and reputation of national tourism, reinforce the course of sustainable tourism development, and draw high-quality tourists who will benefit Indonesia economically, socially, and ecologically. ***
