RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta — The Indonesian Ministry of Industry continues to accelerate the digital transformation of the national manufacturing sector by facilitating a Proof of Concept (PoC) for Industry 4.0 solutions based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the pharmaceutical sector. This is one of the priority sectors in the Making Indonesia 4.0 roadmap.

Indonesia's Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, affirmed that digital transformation has become an urgent necessity for the national industry to improve efficiency, productivity, and global competitiveness. He stated that AI is essential for boosting competitiveness, particularly in the chemical and pharmaceutical sectors.

“Accelerating digital transformation and adopting advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) is no longer an option but a necessity to boost the efficiency and global competitiveness of our chemical and pharmaceutical sectors,” he said in Jakarta on Monday, July 20, 2026, as quoted by the ministry’s press release.

Following up on these directives, Head of the Industrial Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDMI), Doddy Rahadi, stated that in addition to enhancing the competencies of the industrial workforce, BPSDMI is also committed to accelerating the practical implementation of technology within the manufacturing sector. As part of this effort, from April through June 2026, BPSDMI facilitated the implementation of a Proof of Concept (PoC) for the System Invariant Analytics Technology (SIAT), developed by PT NEC Indonesia in collaboration with its local partner, Bogor Technology.

Evaluation results showed that the PoC was successfully completed and achieved a satisfaction rating of 8 out of 10 from PT Kalbe Farma Tbk. Of the three main targets set at the start of the project, two were fully achieved.

Head of the Engineering Group at PT Kalbe Farma Tbk, Ronald Effendi, noted that the implementation of the SIAT system opens new opportunities for optimizing the company’s digital assets while enhancing the competitiveness of the national pharmaceutical industry. “The SIAT system is highly comprehensive in integrating and processing data. This unlocks new potential for us and boosts the company’s competitiveness in addressing challenges within the pharmaceutical industry,” Ronald said.

The Ministry of Industry is optimistic that collaboration between the government, technology providers, and industry players will further accelerate the digital transformation of Indonesia’s manufacturing sector. The wider implementation of Industry 4.0 technologies is expected to improve operational efficiency, productivity, and the competitiveness of the national industry, thereby supporting the achievement of the goals for inclusive, sustainable, and globally competitive industrial development.
