RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia's Vice President, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, emphasized the importance of understanding ethics when mastering artificial intelligence (AI). He warned that AI can be used for negative purposes, such as creating fake news or committing plagiarism.

"Technology without ethics is dangerous. AI can be used to create positive content, but it can also be used to spread hoaxes, commit plagiarism, or violate other people's privacy," Gibran said in a video he published on Tuesday, June 16, 2026,

"I want to remind everyone that the use of AI must be grounded in values of integrity," he said.

In the video, Gibran encouraged students across Indonesia to learn and master AI. However, he cautioned them not to let AI make them lazy to think and take action.

"Use AI to spark creativity, not to replace your own thinking ability," he said.

To teachers and parents, Gibran said that he understands the sense of unease and concern about technology developing so rapidly, but he hopes that teachers will continue to improve and develop their skills. He also urged parents to guide and accompany their children in learning AI.

"We must not let our children soar high with technology while we, as parents, are left behind and unaware of what they are accessing. Let us learn together," Gibran said.

Throughout his tenure as vice president, Gibran has been known for encouraging students to develop AI skills while visiting schools across Indonesia. He also encouraged schools, including Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), to have AI and robotic classes for their students.
