RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Policymakers, industry leaders, and international partners gathered at the Pullman Hotel Thamrin in Jakarta, on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, for Energy Storage and Smart Energy (EESA) Summit Indonesia 2026. This event positioned advanced energy-storage and microgrid technologies from China as practical solutions for stabilizing and accelerating Indonesia’s clean-energy transition.
Organized in cooperation with EESA China and Seven Event and supported by Indonesia’s Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Ministry, the summit focused on strengthening domestic industry capacity while fast-tracking deployment of reliable, efficient power systems across the archipelago.
Speakers highlighted how battery storage and smart microgrids can help integrate renewables, increase resilience in island regions, and support national decarbonization targets.
Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Seven Event, Agus Riyadi, described the summit as a strategic bridge between government and key industry players, bringing together stakeholders to explore concrete collaboration. Representatives from leading Chinese technology firms, Cornex New Energy, Shenzhen Megarevo, and Shenzhen Topband, shared lessons learned from successful smart-energy projects in China.
From the Directorate General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE), Secretary Harris, speaking on behalf of Director General Eniya Listiani Dewi, outlined government policies that encourage adoption of energy storage solutions. Hery Ferdiansyah of the ESDM presented policy directions designed to open opportunities for international cooperation that support Indonesia’s Net Zero Emission target for 2060.
"Executive Vice President of state-owned power company PT PLN, Nico Samuel Saroinsong, provided an overview of ongoing and planned renewable energy projects in Indonesia. Meanwhile, Dessy Lusyana of the Ministry of Industry discussed the practical implementation of local content requirements (TKDN), regulatory frameworks, certification, and measures to strengthen the domestic supply chain.
Addressing rural electrification, Nur Hadiyanto of the ESDM detailed government strategies to expand power access in outer islands, citing a target of 2,065 village electricity locations (Lisdes) by 2026. Priambudi Pujihatma from Pertamina NRE recounted field experience deploying microgrids in island communities and in Indonesia’s underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost regions (3T).
The summit’s closing session examined sustainable financing models with contributions from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), Xi’an JDEnergy, PLN, and PT Alam Energy Renewables. This reflected a clear focus on funding mechanisms that can scale projects nationwide.
Secretary General of EESA, Rene Duan, thanked regulators, practitioners, and industry participants for sharing insights. “Indonesia has very large potential in developing clean energy, and we are committed to being a bridge for cooperation between China and Indonesia.” (Annaila Azzahra/EN)
