RRI.CO.ID, Tangerang - State energy company PT Pertamina (Persero) strengthened its artificial intelligence transformation to improve business and operational performance. The company delivered the update during the Indonesian Petroleum Association Convention and Exhibition at ICE BSD, Tangerang on Friday, May 22, 2026.

Senior Vice President of Pertamina Digital Hub, Ignatius Sigit Pratopo, said the company focuses on creating measurable business value through digital transformation. Pertamina targets stronger operational effectiveness and long-term business growth through AI implementation.

He explained that Pertamina placed value creation at the center of its long-term corporate transformation strategy. The company targets an EBITDA impact worth 300 million U.S. dollars by 2027.

To support the target, Pertamina developed its Digital Factory program across all business lines. The approach covers business problem identification, MVP development, digital analytics implementation, and broader operational expansion.

Sigit said Pertamina built a dedicated function to coordinate company-wide AI and digital analytics initiatives. The unit, known as Pertamina Digital Hub, reports directly to the company’s chief executive officer.

He explained that Pertamina develops AI solutions based on operational challenges faced by business units. The company studies operational pain points before selecting suitable technologies, including AI, machine learning, and analytics.

“After agreeing on the concept with business units, special squads develop MVPs and deliver digital analytics or AI solutions. Once the MVP proves successful, we scale up implementation and begin realizing measurable business value,” he said.

Sigit said Pertamina generated more than 35 million U.S. dollars in value creation during 2024. The company also nearly reached 80 million dollars in value creation during 2025.

Pertamina plans to increase its value creation target to 150 million dollars in 2026. The company also continues expanding AI implementation across upstream operations, including drilling, production optimization, and reservoir management.
