RRI Launches Digital-Based Newsroom Integration

KBRN, Jakarta: Director of Programming and Production of Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI), Mistam, stated that RRI is continuously innovating to keep pace with the digital transformation era. He explained that the launch of an integrated newsroom marks a major step in unifying the news production process across various work units, enabling content to be shared across broadcast channels.

The Director delivered the statement in a Zoom meeting on Tuesday (10/21/2025). He praised the entire team for their efforts in implementing the digital newsroom system and assessed this initiative as an important momentum to strengthen synergy and efficiency within RRI.

“Until now, news production was handled independently by each work unit. With the integrated digital newsroom, audio, video, and text coverage can now be shared by the entire RRI network, including Voice of Indonesia (VOI),” Mistam conveyed.

He added that the digital newsroom is more than just a storage facility; it serves as a curation platform that tailors content for local, national, and international broadcast needs. Mistam also highlighted the important role of gatekeepers and editors in ensuring the quality and relevance of content before airing.

“Not all content can be published immediately. It must undergo a screening process to ensure alignment with each channel's character and programming needs,” he explained.

This newsroom system enables more than 400 RRI reporters nationwide to collaborate, transforming the newsroom into a dynamic national information hub that reflects regional diversity.

The newsroom integration supports RRI's broader efforts to expand its presence in the digital realm, including the rri.co.id portal, which offers news in text, audio, and video formats for easy public access.

Mistam pointed out further that this digital newsroom is the first step toward establishing the National Newsroom RRI, which aims to exist both digitally and physically.

“This newsroom represents a concrete step toward a modern, collaborative RRI that is ready to compete in the digital media ecosystem,” he said.
