RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s taekwondo team secured two additional gold medals in the kyorugi category at the Asian‑level championships, with both victories decided in the finals at Tennis Indoor Senayan, Jakarta.

On Sunday, August 3, 2026, Muhammad Raihan Fadila delivered Indonesia’s first kyorugi gold. The national training camp athlete defeated India’s Akshay Hooda with a 2–0 score in the men’s –80kg division. Earlier, Raihan had edged Kazakhstan’s Aburakhmon Maripov 2–1 in the preliminary round.

“Alhamdulillah, I was able to contribute a gold medal for Indonesia. From the start I was confident I could win here. This final was very memorable because I stood on the podium in front of our home supporters,” Raihan said after the match.

He emphasized that the achievement was a major milestone in his career, noting that the tournament is officially recognized as a G2 World Taekwondo event, carrying high ranking points.

“I really want to compete at the Olympics. Since world ranking points are reset for Olympic qualification, this victory is an important step toward Los Angeles,” he added.

In the women’s –57kg final, Aqila Ramadani of West Java claimed gold after defeating fellow Indonesian Silvana Lamanda 2–0. Silvana had advanced by beating Wing Chi Tse, Ishwari Sonawane, and Stacey Hymer, while Aqila overcame Jihan Safira, Lila Ardian Murata, and India’s Ishwari Sonawane.

Indonesia’s poomsae team had already dominated the medal standings, collecting seven golds, four silvers, and seven bronzes. With kyorugi matches continuing until Wednesday, August 5, opportunities remain for more medals. National team fighter Muhammad Bassam Raihan is scheduled to compete next.

Indonesian taekwondo team added two gold medals in the kyorugi division at the Asian-level championships. The victories came in the final matches held at Tennis Indoor Senayan, Jakarta.

National training center athlete Muhammad Raihan Fadila claimed the first kyorugi gold on Monday, August 3, 2026, after defeating India's Akshay Hooda 2-0.

Competing in the men's -80kg category, Raihan had earlier edged Kazakhstan's Aburakhmon Maripov 2-1 in the preliminary round.

The women's -57kg kyorugi final featured an all-Indonesian showdown. Aqila Ramadani of West Java secured the gold medal after defeating Silvana Lamanda 2-0.

Silvana reached the final by defeating Wing Chi Tse, Ishwari Sonawane, and Stacey Hymer. Aqila advanced after overcoming Jihan Safira, Lila Ardian Murata, and India's Ishwari Sonawane.

Indonesia's poomsae team had already topped the championship medal table, collecting seven gold, four silver, and seven bronze medals.

Indonesia still has opportunities to add more medals, with the kyorugi competition continuing through Wednesday, August 5, 2026. National athlete Muhammad Bassam Raihan is scheduled to compete for Indonesia in the next round.
