RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s rising tennis star Rafalentino Ali Da Costa, just 16 years old, marked an impressive performance at the Amman Men’s World Tennis Championship ITF M15 Series II in Nusa Dua, Bali, on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.
His gritty three‑set win over India’s Arjun Rathi secured a place in the second round, where he will face sixth seed Keisuke Saitoh of Japan.
Competing on a wildcard entry, Rafalentino took the opening set in a tiebreak before regrouping in the decider to clinch victory 7‑6(6), 4‑6, 6‑3 after two hours and 11 minute.
“This is an important step to collect points and prepare for tougher opponents in singles and doubles,” he said, as quoted by Antara.
Joining him in the second round is Gunawan Trismuwantara, who advanced from qualifying and defeated fellow Indonesian Anthony Susanto 6‑3, 6‑4 in one hour and 34 minutes. Gunawan credited his win to staying relaxed and minimizing errors.
In doubles, Indonesia lost one pair as Eric Matthew Gunawan/David Agung Susanto fell to Japan’s Masakatsu Noguchi/Ryotaro Taguchi 7‑6(4), 6‑4. The nation’s hopes now rest on Rafalentino Ali Da Costa/Ethan David Zapp, who will challenge third seeds Daisuke Sumizawa of Japan and Isaac Becroft of New Zealand. ***
