RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia has been entrusted by the International Padel Federation (FIP) to host the FIP Bronze-Promises Jakarta 2026, marking the country’s biggest international padel event to date.

The tournament will take place at Rana Grounds, Mampang Subdistrict, South Jakarta, from July 6–12, 2026, featuring 510 participants from 31 countries across Asia and Europe.

Head of International Relations at the Indonesian Padel Association (PBPI) and Tournament Director of FIP Competitions in Indonesia, Maximiliano Velasco Baratawidjaja, the event combines two major categories: FIP Bronze for adults and FIP Promises for juniors (U-12, U-14, U-16, U-18).

“This is the largest international padel tournament ever held in Indonesia, bringing together both senior and junior competitions,” he said at a press conference on Monday, July 6, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

The open-format tournament allows both men and women to compete, with FIP ranking points at stake. These points are crucial for athletes seeking higher-level competitions and seeded positions internationally.

For Indonesian players, the rankings also help PBPI monitor talent development, identify future national team prospects, and attract sponsorships to support training and participation in more global events.

The FIP Bronze competition will begin on July 8, with over 200 players from countries including Spain, Mexico, Argentina, Kazakhstan, and Indonesia. The FIP Promises junior event will follow on July 9, with hundreds of young athletes competing.

Matches will progress from qualifiers to the main draw on July 10, leading to the round of 16 and quarterfinals on July 11, and culminating in the semifinals and finals on July 12.

PBPI Deputy Chairman Mochtar Sarman noted that Indonesia’s growing role as host reflects FIP’s confidence in the country’s ability to stage world-class events.

“Last year we hosted two tournaments, and FIP was very pleased. This year we’ve been entrusted with six, including Bronze and Promises categories across Yogyakarta, Jakarta, Banten, and Bali,” he said.

Beyond athlete development, PBPI sees the tournaments as part of a broader “padel tourism” concept, showcasing Indonesia as a destination for international sports while boosting local participation.

Domestic interest is rising, with Indonesian entries increasing from around 120 players in the Yogyakarta series in May to more than 300 for the Jakarta edition.

The expanded calendar not only strengthens Indonesia’s padel ecosystem but also provides invaluable experience for local athletes competing against international talent. ***
