Indonesia's Sean Gelael Faces Spa’s Endurance Challenge with Ferrari

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The 24 Hours of Spa is renowned not only for its speed and technical demands but also for its strict endurance regulations, making it one of the toughest GT3 races in the world.

Indonesian driver Sean Gelael is set to take on this challenge at the Spa-Francorchamps Circuit in Belgium, racing a Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo alongside teammates Arthur Leclerc and Lilou Wadoux under AF Corse 50 in the Pro class.

“Let’s aim for the best result,” Sean said in a written statement from Jakarta on Thursday, June 25, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

Wadoux added, “I’m excited to be back in GT World, racing 24 hours at Spa.”

Unlike the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Spa’s endurance race is part of the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup, exclusively featuring GT3 cars.

The event enforces unique driving rules: each stint is capped at 60 minutes (65 under Full Course Yellow or Safety Car), with drivers limited to three consecutive stints before a mandatory one-hour rest.

Over the 24-hour race, each driver must complete at least two hours but no more than 11 hours behind the wheel.

Qualifying requires participation from all drivers, with the average of their three best lap times determining grid position. The fastest 32 cars advance to Superpole, a four-stage shootout that narrows the field to the top four for pole position.

Points are awarded not only at the finish but also at the six-hour and 12-hour marks, rewarding consistency throughout the race. Teams must also complete a mandatory five-minute technical pit stop between the 11th and 22nd hours for car inspection.

The 24 Hours of Spa will be broadcast live on the GTWorld YouTube channel, starting Saturday, June 27, at 21:30 Jakarta time. ***
