RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta -Indonesia’s young male boxers face a pivotal test today as six members of the national squad step into the ring, aiming to secure semifinal berths at the Asian Boxing U19 & U23 Championships 2026 in Jakarta.

National team coach Husni Ray confirmed the lineup, emphasizing the importance of the quarterfinal stage.

“We have six male boxers competing in crucial bouts today,” he said on Friday, July 10, 2026, as quoted by Antara, underscoring the opportunity to strengthen Indonesia’s medal prospects.

The campaign begins in the bantamweight division (55 kg) with Pangeran Februzio Lani taking on Uzbekistan’s Elyor Rustamov. In the welterweight (65 kg), Victor Hengkang faces Taipei’s Po-Yen Cheng, while Muhammad Rayhan Athaillah meets India’s Devendra Chaudhary in the middleweight (75 kg).

Further contests feature Irnanda Firmanda against India’s Sagar in the cruiserweight (85 kg), and Nouval battling India’s Shubham Rajput in the heavyweight (90 kg).

These six athletes are striving to replicate the success of their female teammates, who have already advanced to the semifinals.

Among them are Dira Atika in the featherweight (57 kg), Anggie Antani Chalik in the light flyweight (45–48 kg), Maria Meisita Manguntu in the light welterweight (65 kg), and Linda Sari Langi Maililin in the minimumweight (45–48 kg).

Coach Husni expressed hope that the men’s squad will deliver their best performances to overcome tough opponents and expand Indonesia’s medal chances.

The 2026 Asian Boxing Championships bring together more than 400 boxers from 26 nations. Indonesia fields 19 athletes--10 in the U19 category and nine in the U23 category.

For many of the squad members, the championships mark their international debut, making the tournament a vital platform to gain experience and measure themselves against Asia’s finest. ***
