RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian national player Ole Romeny continued his impressive scoring form for Indonesia, netting the decisive goal in a 1-0 victory over Mozambique as the hosts completed a successful FIFA Matchday campaign on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.
The win at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium in Jakarta followed Indonesia's 3-0 triumph over Oman, giving the national team two victories from two matches during the international window. Romeny's winner also increased his tally to six goals for the Garuda squad.
"I feel like I'm at home here. I feel comfortable in this stadium and with the people around me," Romeny said during a post-match press conference, as quoted by Antara.
Indonesia started aggressively and created several early chances through Ragnar Oratmangoen, Kevin Diks, Elkan Baggott, and Marselino Ferdinan. Baggott came close to opening the scoring when his header struck the post.
The breakthrough came from a partnership between Oratmangoen and Romeny. A long pass from Ragnar found the striker, who broke free from his marker, rounded the goalkeeper, and calmly finished to give Indonesia a 1-0 lead.
Head coach John Herdman made three substitutions after halftime, introducing Sandy Walsh, Nathan Tjoe-A-On, and Raihan Hannan. Indonesia maintained control of the match and nearly doubled its advantage, but Nathan's effort crashed against the crossbar.
Mozambique threatened on several occasions, including a dangerous attempt from Bheu Antonio Januario that was saved by goalkeeper Maarten Paes. However, the visitors were unable to find an equalizer as Indonesia held on for the victory.
The result completed a perfect FIFA Matchday for Indonesia and extended the team's positive momentum following its convincing win over Oman earlier in the week. ***
