The match lasted just 33 minutes, with the young Indonesian duo delivering an impressive performance in front of their home crowd.
Raymond and Nikolaus seized control of the opening game after winning eight consecutive points. Chia and Soh, who had led early in the match, were caught off guard by the aggressive play of the Indonesian pair.
The momentum allowed Raymond and Nikolaus to claim the first game with confidence. In the second game, the world No. 12 pair continued to dominate their opponents.
The second game began as a closely contested battle, with the score tied at 9-8. However, Raymond and Nikolaus gradually widened the gap before closing out the match with another 21-14 victory.
“Thank God we were able to finish the match without any injuries. In my opinion, today was truly extraordinary. The crowd was even bigger, and it made Raymond and me more motivated to play,” Nikolaus Joaquin said during the post-match press conference.
Raymond Indra described the Malaysian duo as highly experienced players. He added that there was no special strategy other than focusing on one point at a time.
“They are very experienced players. Our strategy was simply to focus on each point, one point at a time, and try to win points as quickly as possible,” Raymond said. (Diffa Sephiawardhani)
