RRI.CO.ID, Bangkok - Indonesian women’s doubles shuttlers Isyana Syahira Meida and Rinjani Kwinnara Nastine advanced to the quarterfinals of the BWF World Tour Super 500 Thailand Open 2026 after defeating China’s Luo Yi and Wang Ting Ge in straight sets, 25-23 and 21-13, at Nimibutr Stadium on Thursday, May 14.
The opening game was fiercely contested, with both pairs exchanging points and applying pressure.
Isyana and Rinjani led 17-14 before their opponents leveled the score. “The first game was quite intense, and we lost our composure for a moment. After falling behind, we tried to refocus during the rally,” said Isyana Syahira Meida after the match. She noted that this marks her first time reaching the quarterfinals at the Super 500 level.
The Indonesian duo eventually clinched the first game through a tense rally, a momentum that boosted their confidence heading into the second.
Playing more aggressively, they seized an early lead after the interval and maintained control throughout. Luo Yi and Wang Ting Ge struggled to break free from the pressure and committed several unforced errors.
“In the second game, we tried to be more consistent with our playing style. We also need to be more focused for the next match,” added Rinjani. The victory represents a significant milestone for the young Indonesian shuttlers as they continue their campaign in Bangkok. (Gusti Panji)
