RRI.CO.ID, Bogor - Indonesia’s men’s national volleyball team is targeting a top-four finish at the 2026 AVC Men's Volleyball Cup in a bid to improve its position in the FIVB world rankings, where it currently sits 51st.

The Garuda squad is set to compete in the prestigious tournament in Ahmedabad, India, which begins on June 20, 2026.

Indonesian Volleyball Association (PBVSI) chairman Imam Sudjarwo expressed full support for the national team and said he was optimistic the squad could achieve its target this year.

"We are facing strong opponents, but there is no need to be afraid. Our target is to reach the top four after finishing sixth last season," he said, on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.

Indonesia has been drawn into Pool B alongside Qatar, South Korea, Thailand, and Oman. Farhan Halim and his teammates are expected to face tough competition, particularly from Qatar and South Korea.

Team captain Jasen Natanael Kilanta said he was confident ahead of the tournament after completing extensive preparations with the squad. He emphasized that team chemistry would be a key factor in their pursuit of a semifinal berth.

"The preparations have gone well under coach Toiran and previously Sergio Veloso. We want to give our best at AVC 2026," Jasen said. (Diffa Sephiawardhani)
