RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Aston Villa will visit Indonesia for a preseason match against Indonesia All Stars on August 1, 2026, as the English club looks to strengthen its connection with fans in Southeast Asia following a landmark season.

The match will be played at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium in Jakarta before Villa continues its Asian tour in Thailand, where it will face BG Pathum United on August 4.

Villa arrives in Indonesia after one of the most successful campaigns in the club's recent history, winning the UEFA Europa League and finishing fourth in the Premier League.

"This preseason tour is part of Aston Villa's effort to reach new markets, including Indonesia," Head of Marketing Communication at Sound Rhythm, Ahmad Satrio, said in a press conference in Jakarta on Monday, June 22, as quoted by Antara.

Satrio said organizers hope Villa will bring its strongest available squad, although several players may still be recovering from international duties following the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Indonesia All Stars will feature players currently competing in Indonesia's domestic league.

The tour will also include fan-focused activities such as an official press conference, open training sessions, meet-and-greet events, football development programs, community and corporate social responsibility initiatives, sponsor activations, and media engagements.

Villa has built a growing fan base in Indonesia through supporters' groups such as Villans Indonesia.

The match will give Indonesian football fans an opportunity to watch some of the club's internationally recognized players, including Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, England internationals Ollie Watkins, Morgan Rogers, and Ezri Konsa, Scotland captain John McGinn, and Belgium midfielder Youri Tielemans.

The squad also includes Dutch defender Ian Maatsen, who has Indonesian heritage.

Gelora Bung Karno Stadium manager A. Rijal said Aston Villa representatives had inspected the stadium's playing surface and expressed satisfaction with its condition. "They said the pitch looks fantastic," Rijal said.

Tickets for the match will go on sale on June 27 through the event's official website, with prices ranging from IDR 350,000 to IDR 2.25 million, excluding taxes and administrative fees.

Organizers expect strong attendance, noting that the fixture marks the first visit by a Premier League club to Indonesia in decades. ***
