RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia may have found a new star in para archery after Riyanti Ananda announced herself on the international stage with a standout three-medal haul at the World Archery Para Series - Bangkok 2026.

Riyanti, who only joined the national training camp (Pelatnas) in August 2025, delivered an impressive debut by securing two gold medals in the women’s recurve team event alongside Noviera Ross and the mixed recurve team event with Kholidin. She also added a bronze medal in the women’s individual recurve category.

“Riyanti only joined the national training camp in August 2025, but she was able to perform optimally. Winning two golds and one bronze is an achievement worth appreciating,” Indonesian para archery coach Rameez Ali Surya Negara said in a written statement on Sunday, April 5, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

Rameez said, Riyanti’s success reflects the effectiveness of Indonesia’s current athlete development system in producing new talents ready to compete at the global level.

For Riyanti, the achievement marks both a milestone and a motivation boost in her career. “Alhamdulillah, I am very happy and grateful. These are my first medals in an international event. Thanks to the coaching team, NPC Indonesia, and all my teammates. Without them, I would not have come this far,” she said.

She expressed hope that the result would be the beginning of more achievements for Indonesia in future competitions. “Going forward, I hope I can always give my best for Indonesia and NPC Indonesia,” she added.

Riyanti is now seen as a promising addition to Indonesia’s para archery squad ahead of major events such as the 2026 Asian Para Games and the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympics.

At the Bangkok 2026 event, Indonesia finished second overall with a total of three gold, one silver, and two bronze medals, behind India, which topped the standings with seven gold, three silver, and three bronze.

Indonesia’s gold medals came from Kholidin (men’s recurve), the women’s recurve team of Noviera Ross/Riyanti Ananda, and the mixed recurve team of Riyanti Ananda/Kholidin. The silver medal was won by Arif Firmansyah/Teodora Audi Ayudia Ferelly (mixed compound), while bronze medals were secured by Setiawan (men’s recurve) and Riyanti Ananda (women’s recurve). ***
