RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian climber, Putra Tri Ramadani, made history by becoming the country's first athlete to win a gold medal. He won the medal in the men's lead event at the World Climbing Series Prague 2026 in the Czech Republic on Monday, June 8, 2026.

According to an official website of Indonesia’s Ministry of Youth and Sports, competing against seven of the world's top climbers in the final, Putra delivered an impressive performance in the final, scoring 43 points to secure the top spot on the podium.

Putra was the only Indonesian representative to compete in the lead final in Prague. The achievement marked a significant improvement from his previous appearance at the World Climbing Series in Koper, Slovenia, in September 2025, where he finished sixth in the men's lead final.

Speaking after the competition, Putra, who is also known by the nickname "Srondeng," expressed his happiness at winning his first gold medal on the world stage.

"This was my second final and my first gold medal. I am very happy because the final route was extremely difficult, especially in the upper section, to the point that my arms were pumped from gripping," he said.

Despite the historic victory, Putra emphasized that he does not want to become complacent and remains focused on improving his performance. He said the gold medal has given him additional motivation to continue achieving success and bringing pride to Indonesia, while acknowledging that there are still areas that need improvement to ensure greater consistency in world-level competitions.

According to him, the final route featured a high degree of difficulty and required strong endurance and concentration. "My homework is route reading and overcoming nervousness," he said.
