RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia secured four semifinal spots at the BWF World Tour Super 300 Swiss Open 2026 in Basel, highlighted by strong performances from men’s singles players Anthony Sinisuka Ginting and Alwi Farhan, and mixed doubles pair Amri Syahnawi/Nita Violina Marwah.
Ginting secured a place in the last four after defeating India’s Tharun Mannepalli 21-19, 19-21, 21-13 in the quarterfinals at St. Jakobshalle on Friday , March 13, 2026.
“First of all I’m grateful and happy to reach the semifinals after quite a long time. Every injury I’ve had has made me stronger,” Ginting said in an official statement released by the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) on Saturday, March 14, as quoted by Antara
The Tokyo Olympic bronze medalist said life after marriage and having a child has given him a new perspective on his career.
“After getting married and having a child, it has become one of my happiness. Every time I go home there’s someone waiting. When I’m training I can focus 100 percent, and when I go home it’s time for family. They are my source of motivation and inspiration,” he said.
Ginting admitted the match against Mannepalli was not easy, as the Indian player kept applying pressure with attacking play. “The match today was not easy. His attack is good and from the first game until the last he kept pushing as hard as possible,” he added.
Indonesia also secured another semifinalist in men’s singles through rising player Alwi Farhan, who shifted his focus immediately to the next challenge after winning his quarterfinal match.
“Alhamdulillah, this is all thanks to hard work, not only from me but also the coaches, support team, and my parents’ prayers. But the journey is still long, tomorrow I face Li Shi Feng in the semifinal, and I will prepare for the best,” Alwi said.

Alwi reached the last four after defeating Hong Kong’s Jason Gunawan 21-14, 21-15 at St. Jakobshalle on Friday, March 13.
The match began tightly, but after edging the interval 11-10 in the first game, Alwi pulled away to close it 21-14. His dominance continued in the second game, where his speed and attacking variations helped him build a 16-9 lead before sealing the victory.
“I don’t know what he felt on court, but I just followed the strategy given by the coach and kept my focus,” Alwi said.
Indonesia also placed a representative in the mixed doubles semifinals through Amri Syahnawi/Nita Violina Marwah. The eighth seeds won an all-Indonesian quarterfinal clash against Adnan Maulana/Indah Cahya Sari Jamil in a rubber match, 21-18, 20-22, 21-19.

However, another Indonesian mixed doubles pair, Jafar Hidayatullah/Felisha Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu, were eliminated after losing to China’s Cheng Xing/Zhang Chi 19-21, 17-21.
