RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian women’s futsal squad closed their AFF Futsal Championship 2026 campaign in Thailand with a fourth-place finish, bowing 1-4 to Vietnam in the third-place playoff at Terminal 21 Korat, Nakhon Ratchasima, on Monday, March 2, 2026.

Quoting Antara, the match began with high intensity as both sides traded attacks in the opening half. Indonesia carved out several promising chances, including a close-range effort from Fitri Sundari that was denied by Vietnam’s goalkeeper.

Vietnam, meanwhile, dominated possession and forced Indonesian keeper Fitry Amelya into multiple saves to keep the score level.

Indonesia nearly broke through when Nisma Francida Rusdiana slipped past her marker and faced the Vietnamese goalkeeper one-on-one, only to be pulled back by a defender, a foul that earned a yellow card.

Agnes Matulapelwa also threatened with a solo run from midfield, but her attempt failed to find the net. The first half ended goalless, with both teams locked in a tense stalemate.

Momentum shifted after the break. Nisma unleashed a powerful strike to give Indonesia a 1-0 lead, sparking confidence among coach Luis Estrela’s players. But Vietnam responded with relentless pressure.

Le Thi Thanh Ngan equalized, and minutes later Tran Thi Thuy Trang’s long-range effort turned the tide, putting Vietnam ahead 2-1. Bien Thi Hang extended the lead to 3-1, and Nguyen Phuong Anh sealed the result with a late fourth goal.

The final whistle confirmed Vietnam’s third-place finish, while Indonesia had to settle for fourth, a spirited campaign that ended just shy of the podium. ***
