RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia will host the FIFA Series 2026 in Jakarta this March, providing a platform for the national team to showcase its new style under head coach John Herdman and gain experience against teams from multiple football confederations.

Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) Chairman Erick Thohir welcomed the tournament as an opportunity for the Indonesian squad to adapt to different tactical approaches and international competition.

The tournament, scheduled for March 27 and 30, will take place at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium and feature four nations from three confederations: Indonesia (AFC), Bulgaria (UEFA), Solomon Islands (OFC), and Saint Kitts and Nevis (CONCACAF).

“This event is not only a great trial for our new coach, John Herdman, but also a chance for our players to experience different styles of play from various confederations,” Erick said on Monday, February 23, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

Indonesia will open the tournament against Saint Kitts and Nevis at 8 p.m. Jakarta time on March 27. He noted that the Caribbean team’s style is heavily influenced by British football, emphasizing counterattacks. The winner of the match will face the winner of Bulgaria vs. Solomon Islands in the final on March 30, while the losing teams will compete for the third place.

Erick added that the FIFA Series is an ideal platform to build a foundation for the national team under the new leadership and improve Indonesia’s competitiveness on the international stage. “I hope the national team in this new coaching era can use this tournament to rebuild and strengthen the squad,” he said.
