RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian men's badminton squad has had a packed schedule at the start of this year. After completing four consecutive World Tour events, Moh. Zaki Ubaidillah and his teammates are now set to compete in the 2026 Badminton Asia Team Championships.

The men’s team tournament, featuring top Asian nations, will take place from February 3–8, 2026, at the Qingdao Conson Gymnasium in Qingdao, China.

The Indonesian men’s team arrived in Qingdao on Sunday, February 1, although not all players have joined the squad yet. They are still waiting for several teammates who flew in from Bangkok, Thailand, after competing in the Thailand Masters final.

The players expected to join are Moh. Zaki Ubaidillah, Leo Rolly Carnando, Bagas Maulana, Raymond Indra, and Nikolaus Joaquin.

Preparations ahead of the opening match remain on track. The men’s team will begin their Group D campaign against Myanmar on Tuesday, February 3.

“Looking at the strong results over the past two weeks, especially from Ubed, Bagas/Leo, and Raymond/Joaquin at the Thailand Masters, it definitely boosts their confidence to perform well here too. That’s a big plus for us,” said team captain Anthony Sinisuka Ginting.

Ginting, who recently recovered from a back injury, confirmed he is ready to play if called upon. He also expressed pride in being appointed team captain.

“After going through maximum recovery, I’m now fully prepared - whether I’m fielded or not, since everything depends on the team’s needs. What matters most is having the mindset ready to compete,” he explained.

Assistant men’s doubles coach Thomas Indratjaja hinted that the pair Muhammad Rian Ardianto/Rahmat Hidayat will likely be fielded against Myanmar, serving as Indonesia’s key doubles team.

“On paper, we are still stronger than Myanmar, but we must not underestimate them. Most likely, one of the doubles pairs to play will be Rian/Rahmat. Based on today’s training, they looked sharp and fit,” he said.

In addition to Myanmar, Indonesia’s men’s team is grouped with Malaysia in Group D. The highly anticipated clash against Malaysia is scheduled for Thursday, February 5.
