Garuda Muda Student Team Ready to Compete

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Gunawan Suswantoro, officially sent the Garuda Muda Indonesia Student Team off officially to compete in the Bangkok International Youth Football Festival 2026 on Monday, 2 February 2026 at the Media Center of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Indonesia is sending a total of 24 students, consisting of 12 players in the U-12 team and 12 players in the U-13 team. The students will represent Indonesia in the international youth football competition, which will be held on Saturday–Sunday, 7 -8 February 2026, in Bangkok, Thailand.
Gunawan expressed his pride during the send-off ceremony and emphasized that the players should make the most of every opportunity during the competition.
“The main objective is, of course, to win the competition. However, you should also interact with players from teams of other countries, so that you can learn to build good communication skills that will be beneficial in the future,” he said.
He also extended his appreciation to PT Gold Coin as the main sponsor for the team's participation in Thailand. He further encouraged the Garuda Student Team to remain confident and proud to represent Indonesia.
“Do not be pessimistic or think that our team is inferior to Thailand. We must stay confident and continue to fight to the best of our ability. Winning and losing are part of competition, do not lose spirit. What matters most is that we uphold Indonesia’s good name,” he stated in his remarks.
Meanwhile, the head coach of the Garuda Muda Indonesia Student Team, Sapran Oktari, said that he was very grateful for the Ministry’s support and hoped that the students would achieve success and make Indonesia proud.
The send-off ceremony took place with great enthusiasm. The players of the Garuda Muda Indonesia Student Team appeared enthusiastic and determined to compete with student teams from various countries.
