RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Badminton World Association (BWF) commended the Indonesia Masters 2026 in Jakarta, on Sunday, Jakarta 25, 2026, saying the tournament showcased how strong fan turnout and improved event management helped create a high-quality international badminton competition from the opening rounds to the finals.

BWF representative Selvam Supramaniam noted that the tournament once again captured Istora’s signature atmosphere, with the passionate energy of the crowd resonating from the early rounds all the way through the finals.

“We have just completed a fantastic week for badminton in Jakarta and globally. This venue is always synonymous with highly enthusiastic fans, and that spirit was clearly present again this year,” Selvam said at Istora on Sunday, January 25, as quoted by Antara.

According to Selvam, the strong public support had a positive impact on players, sponsors, and the overall broadcast quality of the matches. He also noted continuous improvements by the organizing committee and the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) in hosting the tournament.

“Every year there are improvements. In 2026, we saw many positive initiatives, including fan engagement activities both inside and outside the stadium,” he said.

Chairman of Indonesia Masters 2026 Organizing Committee, Achmad Budiharto, echoed the sentiment, saying high spectator turnout was a key indicator of the tournament’s success.

“Attendance at Istora GBK was very strong from the qualification rounds through to the finals. This shows that public interest in badminton is on the rise again,” Achmad said.

He added that the Indonesia Masters 2026 also serves as part of Indonesia’s preparations for the Indonesia Open, which holds BWF Super 1000 status.

The Indonesia Masters 2026, held from January 20 to 25, served as one of the season’s opening tournaments on the global badminton calendar.
