RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Organizers of the Indonesia Open 2026 hailed this year’s tournament as a success, citing strong fan enthusiasm and smooth operations throughout the week-long event at Istora Senayan.
Chairman of the Indonesia Open 2026 Organizing Committee, Achmad Budiharto, said one of the tournament’s primary goals was to revive the excitement surrounding badminton in Indonesia. To achieve that, organizers introduced easier ticket access, improved spectator services, and enhanced facilities around the venue.
Speaking at the tournament’s closing press conference in Jakarta on Sunday, June 7, 2026, Budiharto said the event was designed to meet both fan expectations and the standards of the Badminton World Federation (BWF).
“We wanted to revive Indonesia’s badminton euphoria by taking an approach that feels close to the public. That’s why we prioritized accessible ticketing, spectator comfort, and delivering the best possible experience throughout the tournament,” he said.
The tournament adopted the theme Pride of the Nation, which Budiharto said was intended to create a sense of pride among Indonesians, BWF officials, and the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI). He added that the strong turnout and atmosphere during the competition reflected the success of that objective.
“We wanted to bring pride to the Indonesian people, BWF, and PBSI as the organizer of this prestigious international tournament. Thankfully, the targets we set from the beginning were achieved this year,” he said.
Meanwhile, BWF representative Selvam Supramaniam praised the organization of the Indonesia Open 2026, highlighting several innovations that enhanced the experience for both players and spectators.
According to Selvam, the facilities provided for athletes demonstrated the organizers’ strong commitment to player welfare. He noted that transportation services, player amenities, and other supporting facilities were prepared to a high standard throughout the competition.
“We saw many interesting innovations that could serve as references for future tournaments. Player facilities, transportation, and various support services were all very well organized during the event,” he said.
Selvam added that the player area received particularly positive feedback from participants, with many athletes making full use of the facility due to its comfort and practicality during the tournament.
He also said the Pride of the Nation theme successfully reflected Indonesia’s deep passion for badminton, adding that the enthusiasm of local supporters remained one of the defining features that made the Indonesia Open a special event on the international calendar. (Diffa Sephiawardhani)
