Alter Ego Secures Grand Final Spot at M7 World Championship

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Alter Ego esport team secured a spot in the Grand Final of the M7 Mobile Legends World Championship on Saturday, January 24, 2026, after defeating Malaysian Selangor Red Giants 3-1 in a tense lower bracket match in Jakarta, showcasing strategic teamwork, mental resilience, and decisive in-game plays.

The Indonesian squad, composed of Nino, Yazukee, Hijumee, Alekk, and Arfy, held off SRG’s comeback attempts to secure a 3-1 victory.

“Honestly, we didn’t expect to get this far. At first, we just dreamed, failed, failed, failed, and now being in an international grand final feels like a dream,” said Alter Ego captain Nino after the match on MPL Indonesia’s channel, as quoted by Antara.

SRG started the first game dominantly, securing three turtles in an attempt to control the match. However, Alter Ego capitalized on SRG’s mistakes in the 10th minute, gradually building a gold lead and forcing team fights that ultimately allowed them to take the first game 1-0.

The second game saw Alter Ego fully dominating, finishing the match in just 12 minutes with 28 eliminations compared to SRG’s eight, extending their lead to 2-0.

SRG bounced back in the third game, defeating Alter Ego in the 14th minute to narrow the series gap to 1-2.

The fourth game was fiercely contested. Despite giving up three turtles early, Alter Ego countered effectively, achieving a wiped-out at the 22nd minute to close the series 3-1 and secure their spot in the grand final after a long day that included nine games in total.

Earlier, Alter Ego had defeated the Philippines’ Team Liquid 3-2 in the lower bracket semifinal.

“From our training, we prepared mentally and in-game. We’re grateful for all the support, even though we struggled and lost at times. Alhamdulillah, we’re so grateful to reach the grand final. Hopefully, luck will be on our side tomorrow,” said Hijumee.

In the Grand Final, Alter Ego will face Aurora Gaming from the Philippines, who advanced smoothly through the upper bracket. The showdown is scheduled for Sunday at 6 p.m. Jakarta time. ***
