RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian para-badminton campaign gained momentum on Friday, January 23, 2026, as two mixed doubles pairs advanced to the finals of the SL3-SU5 category at the ASEAN Para Games 2025, following semifinal victories over Thai opponents at the SPADT Convention Center, Thailand.

In Group A, quoting Antara, Indonesian duo Leani Ratri Oktila/Himkat Ramdani booked their place in the championship match after defeating Thailand’s Darunee Henpriawan/Nattaphon Thaweesap in straight sets, 21-10, 21-11.

The pair had earlier dominated the group stage, overcoming the Philippines 21-8, 21-1 and edging past the same Thai opponents 17-21, 21-14, 21-13.

Meanwhile, in Group B, Khalimatus Sadiyah/Fredy Setiawan also secured a final berth by rallying from a set down to beat Thailand’s Chanida Srinavakul/Siripong Teamaprom 17-21, 22-20, 21-6.

Their group-stage performance was equally commanding, with straight-set wins over both Thailand (21-8, 21-10) and the Philippines (21-4, 21-8).

With two Indonesian pairs now through to the finals, the para-badminton team has a strong chance of clinching its first gold medal in the sport at the 2025 ASEAN Para Games, whic run from January 20-26, 2026.

As of Friday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. Jakarta time, Indonesia’s contingent had collected 55 gold medals, contributed by athletes across boccia, athletics, cycling, fencing, judo, powerlifting, swimming, table tennis, shooting, and tenpin bowling.

The tally places Indonesia second in the overall standings, trailing host nation Thailand with 94 golds, while maintaining a comfortable lead over Malaysia in third with 26. ***
