KBRN, Jakarta: The Indonesian Olympic Committee (NOC Indonesia), through its Sport for All Commission and in collaboration with the Jakarta Provincial Administration, has officially launched Olympic Day 2025. The event will take place on Sunday, October 12, 2025, in the Sudirman Central Business District (SCBD), Jakarta.

Olympic Day is part of the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) global celebration agenda, themed “Let’s Move.” The campaign encourages communities to be more active, stay healthy, and foster friendship and sportsmanship through physical activity.

The Chair of the Olympic Day 2025 Organizing Committee and the NOC's Sport for All Commission, Reza Rajasa, said the event promotes inclusive sports and healthy lifestyles. “Olympic Day will feature a 5K Fun Run, an art showcase, MSME booths, and an entertainment stage for everyone to enjoy,” Reza said on Thursday, October 2, 2025.

He hopes that this year’s Olympic Day will reignite public enthusiasm for sports, especially in Jakarta. “Our goal is to boost awareness and interest in Olympic sports ahead of the 2028 Los Angeles Games,” he said.

According to 2024 data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), 52.93 percent of Jakarta residents aged 10 and above engage in physical activity at least once a week.

Nationally, the Ministry of Youth and Sports reported a 2024 participation rate of 26.3 percent, an increase from the previous year.

NOC Indonesia hopes Olympic Day will help raise these figures further, in line with its mission to build a healthy, active, and united society through sport.

NOC Indonesia President Raja Sapta Oktohari emphasized that Olympic Day serves as a key moment to spread the spirit of Olympism. “‘Let’s Move’ is not just a theme. It’s a call to action,” he said. “We at NOC Indonesia believe the Olympic spirit must be continuously shared, and we are committed to improving our sports sector’s performance.”

Okto added that Olympic Day 2025 marks another milestone in the journey of Indonesian Olympic athletes. He called for strong public support for the national team, which will compete in three major multi-sport events this year.

“We want to build positive energy from the community so our athletes receive full support. The spirit of Olympic Day mirrors the Red and White’s struggle in international competitions,” he said.

The upcoming events include the Asian Youth Games in Manama, Bahrain (October 22–31), the Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (November 7–21), and the SEA Games in Thailand (December 9–20).

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said Olympic Day embodies the spirit of competition, harmony, and mutual cooperation, Values that reflect the essence of the Olympics. He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to expanding access to sports as part of its plan to position Jakarta as a global sports hub.

“I’m confident that with the many sports activities being held, Jakarta will benefit greatly,” Pramono said. He also pledged full support for Olympic Day and confirmed his participation in the 5K run.

Pramono added that the close friendship between Oktohari and Youth and Sports Minister Erick Thohir would further strengthen Indonesia’s sports development. “Sports need people who are willing to share their ideas, time, and resources for the sake of national achievement,” he said. ***
