Indonesia Marks 81st Anniversary of TNI

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesia marks the 81st anniversary of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) on October 5, 2026. This year’s celebration carries the theme “TNI Kuat Bersama Rakyat, Indonesia Berdaulat, Adil dan Makmur,” which emphasizes the TNI’s commitment to standing together with the people and contributing to a sovereign, just, and prosperous Indonesia.

A series of activities has been held to mark the anniversary, including the TNI Commander’s Cup Open Tournament and competitions. Held from August 1 to October 10, 2026, the event features 72 competitions, comprising 61 sports and 11 non-sports categories.

Another highlight was the TNI Fair, held at the National Monument, or Monas, in Jakarta, on September 19 and 20. The event allowed visitors to see and experience various major defense equipment displayed by the TNI.

The TNI Fair also featured a range of social services for the public. These included 30,000 free food packages, blood donations, general medical checkups, dental examinations, circumcision services, cataract surgery, and cleft-lip surgery.

The TNI Headquarters also organized psychological examinations targeting 8,100 participants. The activity was expected to set a record recognized by the Indonesian Museum of Records, or MURI.

Social activities were also held simultaneously across Indonesia, including bridge construction and the provision of clean water and electricity in rural areas. President Prabowo Subianto had earlier called on the TNI to organize special activities that would provide direct benefits to communities as part of its service to the nation.

The TNI’s close relationship with the people is rooted in Indonesia’s history, as the military emerged from the people’s struggle during Indonesia’s struggle for independence. Today, TNI personnel also contribute to international peacekeeping missions as part of United Nations peacekeeping missions in several countries.

The 81st TNI anniversary will culminate on October 5 at the National Monument in Jakarta. The occasion is expected to reaffirm the TNI’s commitment to strengthening professionalism and solidarity while safeguarding Indonesia’s sovereignty together with all elements of the nation.
