RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Indonesian National Police’s Counterterrorism Special Unit 88 (Densus 88) of the Indonesian National Police has arrested 11 suspected terrorism offenders across six provinces. During the investigation, police found indications that some of the suspects had taken part in training activities, ranging from physical training to firearms practice.

Densus 88 spokesperson Senior Commissioner of Police Mayndra Eka Wardhana said law enforcement operations against the suspects were carried out simultaneously in six provinces: West Java, Central Java, Central Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Riau, and North Maluku. "The suspects are believed to have links to networks affiliated with the Daulah Islamiyah ideology as well as other terrorist networks," Mayndra said, as quoted from the National Police's public relations page monitored by RRI Voice of Indonesia in Jakarta on Sunday, October 4, 2026.

The term Daulah Islamiyah, meaning “Islamic state,” refers broadly to a concept of a state that uses Islamic teachings as its primary reference for governance. In this context, the Daulah Islamiyah referred to is the "Islamic State" organization (IS/ISIS), which the unit has long been monitoring.

As part of the investigation, Densus 88 uncovered indications that some suspects had participated in training activities. These included physical training, firearms practice, and other forms of training associated with militant terrorist activities.

"During the investigation, we also found indications of training activities involving some of the suspects, ranging from physical training and firearms practice to other training activities related to terrorist militancy," Mayndra said.

Following the arrests, Densus 88 investigators continued the investigation by carrying out some investigative measures involving the suspects and the evidence that had been recovered. "After making the arrests, Densus 88 carried out a series of investigative measures, including searches, the seizure and examination of evidence, and the questioning of witnesses and suspects, in accordance with existing standard operating procedures," he explained.

Mayndra stressed that the investigation into the 11 suspects is still ongoing. Investigators are continuing to examine the evidence that has been recovered, including the suspects’ links to other individuals and terrorist networks.
