General Suyudi Ario Seto, New Indonesian National Police Chief

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto officially inaugurated General Suyudi Ario Seto as the new Chief of the Indonesian National Police (Kapolri), replacing General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, at the State Palace in Jakarta on Thursday, October 1, 2026. Suyudi Ario Seto is a senior Indonesian police officer who previously served as the head of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN).

He was born in Pandeglang, Banten, on July 14, 1973, and graduated from the Indonesian Police Academy (Akpol) in 1994. As part of his professional education, Suyudi attended the Police Science College (PTIK) in 2003 and the Police Staff and Leadership School (Sespimti) in 2018. His career in the police force has largely focused on criminal investigation and law enforcement.

He began his career as Head of Unit II of the Mobile Brigade and Criminal Investigation Unit (Resmob) at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police and later held several positions, including Head of the Pasar Minggu Police Sector, Head of Criminal Investigation at the West Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Head of the Motor Vehicle Subdirectorate at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Criminal Investigation Directorate, and Chief of the Central Jakarta Metropolitan Police.

Suyudi also served as Director of General Criminal Investigation at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police and Deputy Director of Cybercrime at the Criminal Investigation Department of the Indonesian National Police. His experience in criminal investigation included handling several cases that attracted public attention.

In 2023, Suyudi was promoted to the rank of one-star general when he served as Deputy Chief of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police. A year later, he was appointed Chief of the Banten Regional Police with the rank of two-star general. His career continued at the national level in 2025 when Suyudi was appointed head of the National Narcotics Agency, holding the rank of three-star police general.

Suyudi was officially inaugurated as head of the National Narcotics Agency by President Prabowo Subianto on August 25, 2025. The inauguration ceremony was held at the State Palace in the Presidential Palace Complex in Central Jakarta.

The appointment of Suyudi Ario Seto as head of the National Narcotics Agency was based on Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia Number 118/TPA of 2025 concerning the dismissal and appointment to the position of Senior Leadership Position within the National Narcotics Agency (BNN).

Suyudi's experience in criminal investigation included the investigation into the acid attack against a Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigator, as well as the handling of the robbery and murder of a family in Pulomas, East Jakarta.
