RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) and the National Institute of Public Administration (LAN) held a virtual event on Tuesday, September 29, 2026. It titled "Narcotics Continue to Evolve, Civil Servants Must Take Action: The Active Role of Civil Servants in the Anti-Drug Movement."
The event was attended by 999 participants. It featured the Acting Deputy for Rehabilitation at BNN RI, Dr. Amrita Devi, as a speaker.
In her presentation, Dr. Amrita Devi noted that the landscape of narcotics is constantly changing regarding types, forms, and methods of distribution. "This situation poses a challenge to efforts to prevent narcotics abuse, necessitating heightened vigilance and understanding among various parties, including the State Civil Apparatus (ASN)," she stated, as quoted by the bnn.go.id website.
One development of particular concern is the emergence of New Psychoactive Substances (NPS), which come in diverse varieties and continue to evolve. Narcotics abuse is increasingly appearing in various forms, including liquid narcotics and vape liquids.
These developments demonstrate that the threat of narcotics can manifest in new forms that must be recognized early on.
Dr. Amrita Devi also affirmed that civil servants play a strategic role in supporting the Prevention and Eradication of Narcotics Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (P4GN). This role can be fulfilled by increasing literacy regarding the dangers of narcotics, developing the ability to recognize potential risks, and fostering a work environment characterized by safety, health, and integrity.
In addition to prevention efforts, civil servants are also expected to show concern for individuals requiring assistance due to narcotics abuse. A humanistic approach and support for the recovery process are crucial elements in creating an environment that fosters rehabilitation efforts.
Furthermore, the involvement of civil servants (ASN) in the anti-drug movement extends beyond merely understanding the dangers of narcotics; it also encompasses demonstrating integrity and setting a positive example within the workplace. Civil servants can play a role in fostering a bureaucratic environment free from drug abuse while simultaneously disseminating accurate information regarding drug prevention and eradication efforts (P4GN) to the public.
Through this initiative, the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) and the National Institute of Public Administration (LAN) encourage civil servants to move beyond being passive recipients of information and instead take an active role in confronting evolving drug-related threats.
Enhanced knowledge, heightened vigilance, proactive prevention, and a commitment to recovery efforts are expected to strengthen the anti-drug movement and support the creation of a government environment free from narcotics.
