RRI.CO.ID, Madiun - The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah of the Republic of Indonesia urges the 2026 MSME & Hajj and Umrah Ecosystem Expo to serve as a collaborative platform for strengthening the Hajj and Umrah economic ecosystem. The expo, which will be held in Madiun, East Java, is targeting around 300 tenants and nearly 10,000 visitors.

As quoted by mui.or.id, Head of the Sub-directorate for Partnership Facilitation of the Hajj and Umrah Economic Ecosystem, Suviyanto, said the expo has significant potential because it will bring together the government, business players, organizing partners, and the public within a single ecosystem.

“This expo is not merely a meeting point, but also an opportunity to build collaboration and strengthen the economic ecosystem that grows from the organization of Hajj and Umrah. Therefore, preparations need to be carried out jointly so that the benefits can be felt more broadly,” Suviyanto conveyed during the Technical Meeting for the Preparation of the 2026 MSME & Hajj and Umrah Ecosystem Expo in Madiun, East Java, on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.

The expo will be held alongside the 2026 Grand Hajj Ritual Guidance Kick-Off. The event will serve as an initial step in preparing Hajj ritual guidance for pilgrims who will perform Hajj in 2027, as well as for members of the public who wish to deepen their knowledge of Hajj rituals.

The 2026 Grand Hajj Ritual Guidance Kick-Off will bring together 15,000 worshippers and 150,000 worshippers from across Indonesia online.

According to him, business players have shown strong enthusiasm for the expo. The committee projects that around 300 tenants will participate. At the current preparation stage, approximately 260 tenants have already registered.

Meanwhile, the number of visitors is estimated to reach nearly 10,000 people. This presents an opportunity for businesses to introduce a wide range of products and services that support the needs of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims.

“With a substantial number of tenants and visitors, we want this expo to truly provide added value—not only for the event organizers, but especially for the business players who are part of the Hajj and Umrah ecosystem,” he said.

Suviyanto explained that the Ministry chose East Java as one of the strategic locations for the expo because the province has a large Hajj pilgrim population. In addition, Madiun is one of East Java’s centers of trade and business.

According to him, these conditions demonstrate the significant market potential for developing the Hajj and Umrah economic ecosystem.

“East Java has a very large base of pilgrims. This is a strength that we need to connect with businesses and MSMEs so that Hajj and Umrah activities can also generate a broader economic impact for the community,” Suviyanto mentioned.

In addition, he said the Ministry wants to encourage MSME products involved in the Hajj and Umrah ecosystem to expand beyond local markets. Products with strong quality and competitiveness are expected to grow into the national market and eventually penetrate international markets.
