RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Police (Polri) reaffirmed their commitment to continuously improving the quality of legal services for the public through better governance, stronger oversight systems, and accelerated digital transformation.

Head of Polri's Bureau of Technology, Information, and Communication, Brigadier General of Police Dr. Indarto, made the statement during the 8th Indonesian Islamic Congress (KUII) in Jakarta on Saturday, July 25, 2026. He said the commitment is part of Polri's broader effort to build a more professional, transparent, and accountable police institution.

He further explained that improving public services and reinforcing law enforcement remain top priorities under the Quick Win program initiated by the Chief of the Indonesian Police. According to him, the most critical aspect of Polri's reform lies in the direct interaction between police officers and the public.

"Our first and foremost priority is improving public services because the key to police reform lies at the point of interaction between the police and the public. That point is public service," Indarto conveyed during KUII VIII on Saturday, July 25, 2026, as quoted by mui.or.id.

In addition, he noted that Polri has established standardized service procedures that must be implemented across all service units. People have the right to access clear information regarding service requirements, procedures, official fees, and processing times for every service, leaving no room for irregular practices.

With these standards in place, the public can also directly monitor service delivery and report officers who request additional requirements or unofficial fees beyond those stipulated.

"These service standards are our promise to the public. If any of our officers ask for requirements beyond those that have been officially established, you have the right to refuse. Likewise, if the service fee differs from the amount publicly displayed, the public has the right to file a complaint because such conduct constitutes a violation," he affirmed.

In the area of law enforcement, Polri has also introduced a number of new mechanisms to strengthen the accountability of criminal investigations. He said all interviews of witnesses and suspects are now required to take place in designated interview rooms equipped with surveillance cameras and audio recording systems.

Furthermore, investigators are no longer permitted to meet with parties involved outside officially designated interview rooms, ensuring that every interaction is monitored and fully documented.
