RRI.CO.ID, Bogor - The Mount Halimun Salak National Park Office, along with the Environmental Services Utilization Directorate of the Ministry of Forestry and related stakeholders, carried out a Declaration of Collaborative Commitment for the Development of the Ajisaka Hiking Route as a Nationally Standardized Trail. The declaration took place at the Ajisaka Hiking Gate in the Mount Salak I National Park Management Resort, Section II Bogor National Park Management Area.
The declaration marked an initial effort to gather multi-stakeholder commitment and support for developing the Ajisaka Route into a hiking trail that is safe, nationally standardized, sustainable, transparent, inclusive, and collaborative. This activity also formed part of the Mountain Revitalization Program initiated by the Environmental Services Utilization Directorate of the Ministry of Forestry to improve governance quality for nature-based hiking tourism in conservation areas.
The Mountain Revitalization Program is designed as a collaborative initiative to strengthen hiking tourism management through implementation of management standards, human resource capacity development, improved hiking safety, provision of adequate infrastructure, and stronger community participation in sustainable nature tourism management. The declaration was signed by the Head of the Mount Halimun Salak National Park Office, Didid Sulastiyo, the Chair of Gunung Parama Indonesia Foundation, the Chair of the Indonesian Mountain Guide Association, and the Director of CV Siliwangi Adventure, and was witnessed by the Head of the Natural Tourism Environmental Services Utilization Subdirectorate, Johan Setiawan.
Through the declaration, all parties committed to supporting development of the Ajisaka Route through preparation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), institutional strengthening, capacity building, hiking route audits and restructuring, service digitalization, and continuous monitoring and evaluation. As a follow-up measure, the Ajisaka hiking route will undergo an audit based on Indonesian National Standard on Mountain Hiking Management conducted collaboratively by participating institutions and stakeholders.
The audit results will become the foundation for future improvement and development plans for the Ajisaka Route, including route arrangement, enhanced safety measures, provision of hiking infrastructure such as gates, ticket posts, shelters, toilets, information facilities, and implementation of digital services and monitoring. "The Mountain Revitalization Program aims to encourage improvements in hiking tourism management quality through standards implementation, stronger management capacity, improved safety, and involvement of various stakeholders," Head of the Natural Tourism Environmental Services Utilization Subdirectorate, Johan Setiawan, said in a press release on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.
He added that the Environmental Services Utilization Directorate supports efforts by the Mount Halimun Salak National Park Office to improve hiking tourism governance through the Mountain Revitalization Program. He emphasized support for developing the Ajisaka Route into a safe, high-quality, nationally standardized hiking route while maintaining the conservation function of the protected area.
Meanwhile, Head of the Mount Halimun Salak National Park Office, Didid Sulastiyo, said the declaration represented an important momentum to strengthen synergy among stakeholders and improve hiking tourism management quality within conservation areas. He explained that hiking tourism development should provide safe and quality visitor experiences without reducing the area's conservation and protection functions.
