RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Europe on Screen (EOS) film festival is returning to Indonesia for its 26th edition, scheduled to take place from June 4 to 14, 2026. The annual festival will be held across eight major cities, including Jakarta, Bandung, Medan, Denpasar, Surabaya, Yogyakarta, Sidoarjo, and Semarang.

Co-Director of Europe on Screen, Meninaputri Wismurti, said in Jakarta on Tuesday, May 26, that all film screenings would be open to the public free of charge. According to her, this year’s festival is set to be more vibrant with a wider reach than previous editions.

“All film screenings at this festival are available free of charge for everyone,” Meninaputri Wismurti said. She added that Europe on Screen 2026 aims to bring new excitement to the appreciation of international cinema in Indonesia.

In addition to showcasing selected European films, this year’s festival is introducing a new program called “Mystery Movie Drop.” The program offers surprise screenings or exclusive advanced screenings for audiences.

Meninaputri explained that viewers will not know the film title until the screening begins. “This is the first time we are organizing it at Europe on Screen 2026. The concept is entirely a surprise, so audiences come without knowing which film will be shown,” she said.

The Mystery Movie Drop program is scheduled to take place from July 29 to 31, 2026, at Taman Ismail Marzuki. Free tickets for the screenings can be obtained one hour before each session starts.

Europe on Screen 2026 will also present the Road to EoS program through international filmmaking workshops featuring Italian film expert Alessandra Pastore. The workshop will provide guidance on pitching film projects, securing funding, and avoiding common mistakes in the international film industry.

The festival will also welcome Irish filmmaker Damian McCann, who is set to present his latest film, “Union.” Irish Ambassador to Indonesia, Sharon Ann Lennon, said Damian is recognized for combining modern filmmaking approaches with Ireland’s national language and cultural identity in his contemporary works.
